Health system will leverage analytics to manage care and build competencies for shared risk strategies

Emeryville, Calif. – (February 17, 2015)MedeAnalytics today announced that Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC), a not-for-profit regional medical system based in Fredericksburg, Virginia, has adopted MedeAnalytics’ Population Health solution to improve the quality of care and reduce costs for more than 3,000 employees that are part of its self-insured health plan. MWHC will also leverage MedeAnalytics’ robust platform for its quality reporting needs, such as HEDIS, and will utilize Johns Hopkins ACG system for risk stratification and FirstDataBank for advanced pharmacy analytics. MWHC recently received certification into the Medicare Shared Savings Program and plans to expand the platform to a broader population as it enters into similar value-based shared savings agreements with commercial payers.

MedeAnalytics’ Population Health solution aggregates and normalizes disparate claims, digital records and other clinical and financial data – enabling hospital systems, like MWHC, to better manage costs and achieve standard industry quality metrics. MWHC will gain evidence-based insights that will help manage rising healthcare costs and improve the overall health of its employees.

“A major part of our healthcare quality improvement strategy is to align our care metrics with the physician community that is participating in our clinically integrated network. We can only do that with strong analytics that empower us to self-evaluate, efficiently manage patient populations and proactively identify areas for early clinical interventions,” said Travis Turner, Vice President of Clinical Integration with MWHC. “We chose an experienced analytics partner to support our employee population health efforts initially and we continue our journey to becoming a premier health system that will participate in broader population health initiatives.”

MWHC just completed the final stages of their implementation, which involved uploading the past three years of employee data into the MedeAnalytics platform and compressing the records into single encounters. MedeAnalytics has been working side-by-side with MWHC, training them to independently generate and pull the reports for quality metrics.

“Our two organizations have worked closely together to enable MWHC to leverage the important insights available through our solution,” said Andy Hurd, MedeAnalytics Chairman and CEO. “We are looking forward to a long-term partnership as MWHC continues to innovate in the areas of cost effectiveness and improved quality of care for their employees and patients.”

MedeAnalytics’ Population Health solution offers insight into clinical quality, utilization and costs associated with patient populations. Healthcare organizations can leverage the solution to position themselves to better understand and manage risk arrangements with payers and third party administrators (TPAs). The solution also integrates closely with a broad array of health information exchange (HIE) and provider-facing clinical workflow partners to provide a comprehensive population health management platform.

Looking ahead, MedeAnalytics will showcase the Population Health solution and other products at the HIMSS15 Annual Conference & Exhibition at the McCormick Place in Chicago, April 12-16, 2015. More information will be unveiled in the coming months around the company’s speaking sessions and events at the Clinical & Business Intelligence Knowledge Center.
