Creating a healthy, balanced lifestyle is something that all individuals are looking to achieve. However, not everyone has the resources to achieve it. Well, employers are now becoming that resource by establishing wellness initiatives within their companies. In fact, according to Society for Human Resource Management, 72 percent of employers are now offering some type of resource to instill new ways for their employees to live a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
Given this recent trend, we connected with our very own Eric Roth, VP of Human Resources, to explore how MedeAnalytics approaches overall health and wellness in the workplace. Below are his responses:
1.What wellness initiatives do we have in place at MedeAnalytics?
Eric Roth (ER): At MedeAnalytics, we encourage employee wellness in several ways. One way is through our partnership with FitBliss which offers our employees access to a dedicated platform that serves as an engagement portal. Our employees have the ability to track exercise, initiate wellness challenges and monitor personal health, including physical and emotional well-being.
In addition to FitBliss, we also offer the Mede/ACTS program which encourages employees with the incentive of raising money (with us matching funds earned) for the charity of their choice by participating in activities, such as exercise and meditation. We also contribute to the funds they earn – $1 for every 10,000 steps and for every 60 minutes of exercise that have been logged into wearables, fitness app and FitBliss.
Beyond those programs, we ensure that our employees have access to healthy foods, so we offer complimentary organic fruit and healthy snacks, along with periodic wellness lunch & learns with wellness experts and trainers across our offices. We also organize fitness activities, like offsite runs, walks and yoga sessions.
How do you encourage employee participation?
ER: We encourage employee participation in a variety of ways and with regular communication we have a better understanding of what they are looking for. This feedback goes directly towards making wellness initiatives fun and interesting.
What has the feedback on the initiatives been?
ER: The feedback from our employees has been positive. Our approach of putting in place various wellness programs that cater to different personalities and goals is important and gives all our employees the opportunity to participate.
4.Do you have any future wellness plans for the new year? If so, what are they?
ER: Yes, of course. Mede plans to continue to grow its wellness program with further development of both FitBliss and Mede/ACTS, as well as implement new initiatives that cater to our employees wants.
