Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals Selects MedeAnalytics’ ICD-10 Intelligence and Compliance and Revenue Integrity Solutions
EMERYVILLE, Calif., June 5, 2013 – MedeAnalytics, a leading provider of healthcare performance management solutions, announced today that Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals (TJUH) selected MedeAnalytics’ ICD-10 Intelligence and Compliance and Revenue Integrity solutions to support their efforts pertaining to coding efficiency, corporate compliance, and risk assessment.
“With the daunting task of transitioning from ICD-9 to the ICD-10 coding scheme with over 140,000 codes, we knew we needed meaningful data to evaluate impacts and focus our efforts based on volumes and risks for our specific services,” said TJUH Vice President of Revenue Cycle Nancy Rhodes. “With MedeAnalytics, we expect to zero in on prevalent diagnoses and procedures that require increased documentation and coding specificity, identify those that will shift DRGs, and benchmark externally and internally to monitor performance. In addition, this will enable us to provide focused and meaningful clinical documentation and coding training, better positioning us for a successful transition to ICD-10.”
According to TJUH Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer Ann Powers, “The MedeAnalytics Compliance and Revenue Integrity solution will allow us to be more proactive in identifying potential areas of risk, comparing our data against industry standards, and ensuring compliance with billing rules and regulations. This data mining is something the government has been doing for some time in order to identify potential overpayments. This solution will allow us to better design our compliance initiatives and measure our performance, to avoid financial risk and expensive, time-consuming audits.”
“We are excited to have Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals as a MedeAnalytics client,” said Senior Vice President and General Manager of Provider Solutions Steve Lerch. “Their preparation for the ICD-10 conversion and management of compliance risk is at the forefront of the medical community.”
